LINEUP 2017

CliveyFest Lineup 2017

Friday

19:45 – 20:45

THE RIVEN

The Riven is all about raw, soulful, heavy rock with lots of hot sauce and cheap beer. Formed in West London after an alcohol fueled songwriting session between guitarist Arnau Diaz and bass player Max Ternebring, they were soon to be accompanied by Charlotta Ekebergh on vocals and Olof Axegard on drums.

With a love for bands like Rush, Grand Funk Railroad and Deep Purple in common they started writing together and recorded their first EP at Buffalo Studios in East London. The Riven have now released their first EP together, ”Blackbird”, in April 2017.

21:00 – 22:30

BILLY IN THE LOWGROUND

It’s always difficult to categorise a band that plays their own original material. Billy in the Lowground are often shoe-horned into the pigeonhole marked ‘Folk Rock’, mainly because they’re loud and there’s a distinct Irish influence courtesy of fiddle player Ruth Behan, but the sound is continuously evolving, incorporating elements of Country, Rock, and yes, Folk. The many line-up changes over the years have actually strengthened the band, as every new member brings something new into the mix.
Comparisons have often been made with the Waterboys and the Levellers, but there’s a distinctive tone to the band that’s all their own.

The one thing they definitely don’t play is cover versions: “We don’t play covers, on the basis that nobody else plays our stuff… so why should we play theirs ..?”

22:45 – 00:00

BRAKELIGHT

Playing the Classic Blues & Classic Rock tracks from the earlier years that people love, whilst adding their own twist on contemporary tracks of today.

Brakelight thrive on entertainment of their crowds/audience with expressive music and energetic performances. With influences of Freddie King, B.B King, ZZ top, Joe Bonamassa, Rag ‘n’ Bone Man, Prince, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Led Zeppelin & many more!

Brakelight excel in keeping the crowd pumped and rocking out all evening!

15:45 – 16:30

STRANGEFOLK

‘Strange Folk’ evolved in Hertfordshire during 2002, and are currently based in Herts & Somerset. But there’s nothing strange about this band of three guys and one girl, or their music – a vibrant fusion of retro rock, folk and neo-gothic elements.

The band’s roots are in folk, and distinct rock aspirations are tempered by a recognisable folk vein running through their songs to varying degrees. Dark impressive vocals ride the crest of a truly great sound that transports the listener to another time – a time when long hair, beads and flares roamed the lands; while elements of gothic/ acid/ grunge/indie rock folk generate a cauldron of flavours to excite.

16:45 – 17:30

THE LAYERS

The Layers formed in late 2006 as a result of being the only four people to turn up for a speed-dating evening. The resulting angst inspired a set of original songs garnering sufficient acclaim to lead them on tour through The Netherlands, Austria, the Czech Republic, New York and across the UK, from Twelfth Note to the Green Man festival.
